Hey friends! How is everyone’s week going? Jonathan and I were at the cabin this weekend and had such a great time! We splurged and finally got a paddleboard to take out of the lake, did some waterskiing, and relaxed around the campfire. But it was not the type of weekend where I wanted to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. So, I made this smoked salmon BLT as an easy lunch!

Of course, this sandwich started out as a regular BLT. But I brought my fancy pants in the kitchen today and added some smoked salmon!

Hot smoked salmon is really a thing of beauty. It has a smokiness that works well with the crispy bacon. There are two types of smoked salmon that I have found at the grocery store– hot and cold smoked. Cold smoked versions, which are sometimes called lox, have a smoother texture and are not heated during the smoking process. Whereas hot smoked is heated through and tends to be flakier. You can find either version at the grocery stores near the fish section. Word of the wise, some salmon filets still have the bones in them, so be sure to pick through the meat before putting it in the sandwich.
Along with salmon, I added avocado here for a creamy texture. You can add mayonnaise if you’d prefer but I’m not much of a mayo fan. And of course, the tomato and lettuce make it a BLT. I guess this is a BLAT? I’m not sure if there is a sandwich authority to report to.

Serve with chips and enjoy this tasty smoked salmon BLT!
